Mr. Koch was the senior partner at Koch & Garvis, LLC who spent over 40 years representing individuals.
He was committed to helping individuals deal with the intricacies of the law, in both criminal defense and civil litigation. His success stemmed from his ability to listen and understand what was needed. His passion, and guiding principles, revolved around helping individuals, especially those less fortunate than himself. For over 40 years he mentored lawyers and taught them that the law, although a business was much more, it was honored profession to help others.
He was named a Super Lawyer, and was loved and respected by his peers and friends.
It is this approach to life, his caring and desire to help others that he instilled in his long-time partner, Andy Garvis who has continued Richard’s legacy in helping clients and mentoring of lawyers.
Mr. Koch was a founding member of both the National College for DUI Defense and the Minnesota Society for Criminal Justice, and was a longtime member of the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
